There is now four spesific things left on our "wishlist" for Bali before heading out to some of the other islands.
Today we have planned with Supa to go to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple and maybe experience a local dance and music they perform there during the art festival they have this time of year. The second place to visit for today is Pura Ulun Danu Bulian temple which is close to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple
In between those two temples we are stopping to take som nice blog and instragram photos at the famous "Gate of Handara".
The last thing on our list is the Jatiluwih rice terrases. We decided to see that on our way back to Sanur after a few days in the north of Bali.

So on our way to Ulun Danu Beratan temple, Supa (Supartha) is eager to tell us all about Bali and Indonesian culture. We ask a lot of questions and he answer them without hesitation. After almost two hours on the road we arrive at the temple. We are there quite early and there is not many people in sight.
This temple is so gorgeous and colorful. The old part of the temple which is positioned on the water is really detailed and stunning and is really worth taking a trip to see. Since the lake is getting smaller they have had the chance to built a new part to the temple on land. This is also a very nice extension to the old temple and make the area quite big compared to other temples.
The temple is dedicated to the goddess of the lake, Ida Batari Dewi Ulun Danu, gods of mount Batur and Mount Gunung Agung. The temple was built in the 17th century in the worship of te main Hindu Trinity.
Since it is a art festival going on while we are here, they have decorated with a lot of flowers and figures which makes the experience even nicer. The ticketprice is 50000 rupies ( 4 US dollars and 35 Norwegian Kroner) and is worth every penny. We did not get the opportunity to watch the local dance today.

We jumped in Supas car again and drove 5 minutes to reach "Gate of Handara". This is actually an entrance to a golf course, but because it is so iconic it has become a famous "photo" location.

The last stop of the day was Pura Ulun Danu Bulian temple. This was a small temple with now other visitors besides ourself. It was a nice temple, more local temple with a good view over the lake. It was a good, quiet ending of the sightseeing- day.

Supa then took us to our hotel where we were supposed to stay for 4 days. But after arriving and eating a late lunch we started wondering if we should be heading south to Sanur already tomorrow morning. The Atas Awan Eco Boutique resort has beautiful surroundings, nice rooms and vegetarian food, but we felt a little lost. Since we are not renting a scooter at Bali and that we have already
been looking at most of the places in the surroundings that we wanted to see, we decided to book a hotel in Sanur from tomorrow. It is also a lot colder here in the mountains and we are looking for some sun and beach after a few days running around being tourists.

Tomorrow we will hopefulle be able to see the Jatiluwih rice terraces on the way south to Sanur.

Talk to you later alligator!
