Gili Air Island Lombok

We are now looking forward to relaxed days at the Gili islands.

We had booked a car from the hotel at Nusa Penida at 0730 to drop us at the harbor. There we had a ticket for the local boat back to Nusa Lembongan. From Nusa Lembongan we had tickets on the fast boat over to Gili air at 1030.

We are getting used to waiting while we have been travelling around the world. People are not used to the “strict”  timeline and meeting at a specific time like we are used to in Norway.

So our driver was still sleeping at 0730 so one of the emplyees at Batan Sabo cottages had to call him and wake him up. But we still managed to reach the harbor in time for the local boat.

We had booked a car from the hotel at Nusa Penida at 0730 to drop us at the harbor. There we had a ticket for the local boat back to Nusa Lembongan. From Nusa Lembongan we had tickets on the fast boat over to Gili air at 1030.

We had booked for a pickup by a tuktuk at the yellow bridge in Lembongan. The tuk tuk was supposed to pick us up at 0915. We arrived at the yellow bridge around 0830 so we had a lot of waiting in front of us. But it is better to wait and to be late. But when 0915 arrived and passed we started to get sick of waiting. The clock turned 0955 before the tuk tuk arrived to pick us up. It was now only 30 minutes until the fastboat was leaving Nusa Lembongan harbor.

But as always, the fastboat was also 40 minutes late and we were really getting tired of waiting around. But finally at 1110 we started our 2 hour boatride to Gili Air.

As mentioned earlier, our experience with the fastboats has not been great. The last trip we had from Gili air to Bali was so scary that we considered flying to Lombok this time and only take a small boat between the island. But this time the boatride was still a bit bumpy and wavy, but we listened to storytale ebook and zoned out.

We arrived at Gili Air almost 2 hours after predicted time so we used the rest of the evening to eat and relax by the pool. We were stunned of all the changes that had happened to the island in only two years since we visited last time. It is a lot more touristy and more buildings made.

Tomorrow we have planned to walk around the whole island to see if there is some more beautiful beaches a lit more secluded.
